Transportation
Bus
Panajachel’s main bus stop is at the top end of Calle Santander where it joins with Calle Principal. Rebuli has buses that run each day between Panajachel and Guatemala with stops along the Pan-American Highway. Other buses leaving from the main stop go to Antigua, Chichicastenango, Ciudad Tecún Umán (Mexican border), Cocales(Guatemala Pacific coast), Huehuetenango, La Mesilla(Mexican border), Quetzaltenango. Schedules can be found at the Rebuli office or at the taxi stand.
Taxi & Shuttles
Private shuttles can be hired at the same location as the main bus stop or travel agencies such as Atitrans or STA can provide you with Service throughout Guatemala. They also have shuttle schedules that you pay per person not for the entire vehicle.
Boats
Boats are the primary transportation to the villages and towns that are on the shores of Lake Atitlan. There are two main boat docks in Panajachel with public boats. One goes to Santiago and the other will go to San Pedro and the other villages along the lake.
Private boats can be hired to go to the towns aswell along with providing a private tour around the lake.
Money
Quetzales (Q) – Is the National Currency in Guatemala. The exchange rate usually varies between 7 & 8 Quetzales per 1 US dollar.

Located on Calle Principal, Panajachel. Exchanges money US dollars and traveler’s checks, and has an ATM machine.
Banco Industrial
Located on Calle Santander, Panajachel. Exchanges cash US dollars, offers ATM machine.
Banrural
Located on Calle Principal, Panajachel. Exchanges cash US dollars
Credomatic
Located on Calle Santander, Panajachel. Exchanges cash US dollars and Visa and MasterCard cash advances.
Travel agencies, restaurants and hotels throughout Panajachel mostly on Santander, will exchange US dollars or Euros, but be aware that the rates are lower then the banks.
Medical
The Nearest Hospital is located in Solola. Recommended for extreme emergencies.
Pharmacies throughout Panajachel can help diagnosis and prescribe medicine. A few clinics can also be found with labs.
For serious Injury and emergencies, Guatemala City has private hospitals with state-of-the-art facilities.
